problem was, he’d had a lot of experience getting slapped down by Jack, and he just didn’t have the heart for it that night. Jack wasn’t unkind, but he sure was efficient in handing out rejection.
Jack’s hand locked on his shoulder, Ellery glanced back in surprise, read the longing in Jack’s eyes, and the next instant they were in each other’s arms—Watson yipping in alarm as he narrowly scooted out from between them.
“Christopher Holmes will be on a book tour in December,” Nora announced.
“This one’s a keeper,” Talia had whispered, her eyes very bright.
Ellery rolled over (to Watson’s displeasure) so that they were face-to-face. “Two? You must have a high pain threshold.” “No. They’re…” “Bad.” “I wouldn’t say that.” Ellery grinned. “Well, no, because you want to sleep with me.”
