“Do we have a status on the specimen? You stated it was eating the crew. Is it still alive?”
His name was Dr. Miguel Lucero. Age: Thirty-nine. Graduated from the University of Florida with Doctorate. Conducted post-doctoral studies in Marshall University. Specialty: Ophiology (study of snakes). What caught Gina’s eye was his sub-specialty: Paleontology and geology, with a concentration on extinct species of snakes.
Because, why wouldn't one study snakes, fossils, rocks, and extinct snakes? I mean...who wouldn't want to pay student loans until they die?
“It’s an instinct. These types of snakes constrict something until it’s dead, or at least paralyzed. How would you like it if your cheeseburger was scraping and clawing in your belly after you’ve eaten it?”
“You’re responding emotionally,” Miguel said. “Besides, where are you gonna get the poison? They shipped you in from Massachusetts yesterday; I doubt you knew in advance to bring in a shitload of poison to kill your shark.”
“We spent the whole day chasing after a genetically engineered megalodon, using a genetically engineered snake, both resurrected by fossilized DNA. Both are wreaking havoc. And stealing a police car is the thing that surprises you the most?”
