The megalodon circled one more time. The scent grew as it neared. Hunger dictated its actions. It fluttered its tail, rolled its eyes back into its head, and struck the keel.
The pain grew more intense with each passing second. His flesh felt as though it was turning to goo. Panicking, he touched his face and shoulders, and felt a strange softness. The clothes were breaking apart like wet tissue, and the skin and muscle underneath had turned soggy. His fingers found holes in his cheeks. He was melting!
Despite being raised in captivity, as well as her many attempts to make it docile, the beast’s aggressive nature was its driving force, and now, it was on the loose.
“A shark?! This emergency meeting is for a shark? You have aquariums here full of them!” “Not like this one.” “No?” Jason’s grin widened. “Does it have two heads? And how did you lose it? Did a tornado come and sweep it away?”
He kept his eyes on the line and the clear blue water around it. His blood ran cold as a dark shape formed under that water. For a moment, it was as though a huge grey cloud had formed out of nowhere. In the following moment, the calm surface exploded in his face.
The shark turned to its right in a wide arch. Its tail swung across the surface. Welch saw the grey caudal fin coming right at him. It was the last thing he saw. The tail struck the Captain. His body popped like a bug on a windshield, forming a huge red cloud. Mangled body parts were airborne, launched by the sweeping motion of the megalodon’s caudal fin.
