“As a woman of faith, I believe that every person has the right to decide what is best for them.” It was her simple opening statement that I’ll never forget. She identified herself as a woman of faith, as someone who is deeply committed to her religion and to her community, and for that reason saw it as her duty to fight for her rights and the rights of others. What she taught me was that it was unfair to make religion and abortion polarizing opposites when they can, in fact, reinforce one another.
