the Sufi Sarmad, who refused to recite the part of the Islamic creed that held that there was but one messenger, one book, one revelation (theirs, of course). Sarmad felt that the whole of creation was sacred, and he sensed that there had been, and will be, many valid ways of acknowledging mystery.
