There’s nothing wrong with doing a large study. In general, more data is better. But if data are gathered bit by bit, testing as we go, then the standard statistical tests aren’t valid. Those tests assume that the data have simply been gathered, then tested—not that scientists have collected some data, tested them, and then maybe collected a bit more.
