“Because he’s in love with my sister which makes him about as appealing to me as a three-day-old tuna sandwich – no offence,” I tossed at Darius and he smirked. “You’re an old tuna sandwich to me too, Gwen,” he agreed, and I punched him over the name, but couldn’t fight a smirk.
“How often did he do this?” he snarled, his grip unyielding so he was crushing the bones in my fingers, though I was fairly certain he hadn’t even realised he was doing it.
“Not as often recently. It was almost all within the first six weeks,” I muttered. “He stopped once she showed fear in response to every mention of you.”
The haunting roar of a Dragon in distress rattled the entire treehouse a moment later as he took off towards the sky and I felt something shatter deep inside me as my own grief over all of this threatened to tear me apart.
“I just thought you should know. All the time Father had you, he spent every single minute searching for you, fighting back against the Nymphs, letting Darcy burn him half to death with Phoenix fire just to try and remove the shadows from his body so that he could challenge Father without Clara being able to stop him. It broke him losing you… So, I guess what I’m saying is that I think you should give him the chance to make things right between you two. He’s been to hell and back losing you, Tory. Please don’t let Father win by keeping you away from him now.”
My girl wasn’t going to wait for a minute, let alone a fucking hour.
“You told him I was yours,” she said, reaching out to take a nacho and loading it with guacamole. “You are,” I replied simply, and she held my gaze as she thought on that.
“I never said that.” “No, you didn’t. But you were mine from the first moment I laid eyes on you. You’re just too damn stubborn to say it out loud.”
“There is only her.”
“I’m not an easy person to love,” I muttered. “Neither is he. That’s probably what makes you so perfect for each other.”
“It’s only you. Even though it can’t be, it fucking is.”
I was still a wild beast, and I wasn’t about to be caged any time soon. Though if anyone had a chance of caging me then it was her.
And there was only her, just like she’d told me there was only me.
“Because, from the moment I arrived here I swore I wouldn’t let anyone decide my fate for me. So, despite the fact that you’re literally the rudest, most pig-headed, infuriating asshole I have ever met, I still want you.
“I told you I love you. I tattooed it on my flesh, Roxy, I feel like I’ve made my feelings pretty clear. You’re all I want for myself. The only choice I wish I could make and the only one I can’t. So, you don’t think anything. You know I’m yours, every damn piece of me.
There is only him.
“I think I’m already burning, Darius,” she breathed. “And it’s time I stopped pretending I’m not.”
“I can’t be with anyone but you. It would fucking kill me, Roxy.”
“You’re mine where it counts, Darius. And I’m yours. Nothing can change that.”
“I love you, Blue. I loved you then, I love you now, I’ll love you tomorrow even if I’m no longer on this earth. No time exists where I won’t love you.”
