Aunt June telling her that once shells were too far away from the ocean for too long, it lost its ties to the water and, therefore, was unable to remember the sound. This particular conch shell, though, according to Aunt June, would occasionally play Elvis Presley’s “Blue Suede Shoes” if you listened hard enough.
