After only about a month of marriage Oswald revealed that he wanted to return to the US. Marina had no objection to this but her uncle and aunt did and quit speaking to her. In the middle of all this turmoil, Marina decided to take her annual “holiday” and travel alone to Kharkov, not a garden spot in October, to visit her aunt. Her “Holiday” the previous year was in Leningrad.
