“It’s as simple as it sounds. In exchange for transferring full ownership of the stocks, I want you to pay for them by becoming mine.”
‘I saw the devil today, darling. I think he’s coming after me.’
“Hey, Claire. If you get this, it means I’m no longer with you. I debated about whether to leave you this, but I decided that I need to warn you. I need to protect you like I wasn’t able to when I was alive. Claire, baby sis, someone is trying to kill me and I probably will die. I —"
Jonathan grabs my hand and yanks it up to my breasts. The feel of his skin on mine sends electricity through my stomach, almost like he’s trying to shock me to death. “Hold it there. Don’t move.” I don’t know what he means by that until his fingers trace alongside my scar. A different type of bolt rushes through my skin and memories zap to my mind like lightning strikes. Vacant eyes. Duct tape. Dirt. The crunching of a metal against bones.
“Do not move or I’ll lay you on my lap and spank your arse.”
“I don’t care what you do to my body, Jonathan. This thing has been dead for eleven years.”
Apparently, I’ve numbed myself to sex since I was a teen, which, in his words, could’ve been a knee-jerk reaction to sexual assault or rape. Neither of those happened to me.
“Pain.” His strong voice echoes around my dizzy head like a sinister, dark promise. “That’s what you need, Aurora. Lucky for you, I have plenty to give.”
He taught me those things. The devil.
She might share Alicia’s physical appearance, but she’s nothing like her sister.
Aurora is a fire where Alicia was earth. Deep and silent and everyone could step on her. Aurora would burn anyone before they even attempted to.
Instead, there’s a devil in his place.
A whimper tears out of her as she nuzzles her nose into my jacket. “Alicia…” “She’s not here, but I am. I’ll always be here, wild one.”
“The only reason you haven’t been owned before is because I hadn’t come along yet.”
“My name is the only name you’re allowed to moan. The only name you’re allowed to think about or even dream of.”
There’s no obligation keeping me glued to her. If anything, it’s the other way around. I’ve been trapping her so she doesn’t slip between my fingers.
Aurora or Clarissa or whatever name she goes with is now fucking mine. Literally. Figuratively.
In every sense of the word.
“Fuck. Your mouth was made for me, wild one. Only me. You’re not allowed to open these lips for anyone else, is that understood?”
“You’re the first person who’s shared my bed.”
“You’ll stop doing that. Effective immediately.” “Doing what?” “The red lipstick. Coming here the entire time. Noticing that he grew muscles. All of it. Be a stranger.” He’s jealous. Ha. Jonathan King is jealous. That’s not something I thought I would ever witness in this lifetime.
Aurora is always thinking about ways to outsmart me and get what she wants. I indulge her and even let her win sometimes. I know. I, Jonathan King, who makes sure to crush anyone who goes against him, is letting someone win.
Truth is, I love kissing Aurora. She comes undone when my lips ravage hers. She melts against me and lets me do whatever I please.
My feet come to a slow halt in front of Alicia’s room and my smile vanishes. I place a hand on the door as I often do. Alicia is a reminder of when I also lost control. I have to make sure that doesn’t happen with Aurora. She already shares her looks; she won’t share her fate.
