The truth is a sneaky thing. Like a witch, it demands a high price before setting you free.
However, she never mentioned her mother or the promise she made me.
Elsa will never be whole unless she remembers what happened that night. She’ll never fully accept me unless she remembers our bloody past. After all, it was all because of me.
“Ethan has just accepted to marry his daughter to Earl Edric Astor’s son. You can go back to England now. Congratulate Elsa on my behalf.”
Each company has been recruiting members of that committee to vote in their favour.
“I’m kidnapping you, sweetheart. It’s been long overdue.”
I knew he’d give the world his middle finger and whisk me away on his black horse.
He crossed the seas for me.
“You reminded me of the woman who destroyed my childhood, but I didn’t let my hate win. You let your distrust win every fucking time.”
“I chose you over my mother’s memory, my father, and everything I fucking know. But you never chose me.”
“Now we go back to where it all started.”
“The night of the fire. The night I lost you.” I blow out a shaky breath. “I want to hear it from you.”
I’ll save you. Her soft voice echoes in my head. I promise.
Because if her dad helps me, I won’t see her again.
I’m sorry, Elsa. I won’t keep my promise.
“Aside from the first time you stepped into RES, I never saw you as your mother.”
Her beating, throbbing pulse. It’s a constant reminder that she’s alive, not dead. Her scar is proof she doesn’t have that gush in her chest. Her bright blond hair isn’t soaked in red like when she lay there lifeless. That’s why I’m obsessed with those three parts of her.
Elsa and I didn’t meet under the right circumstances. We just met, and then we re-met, and then we became inseparable.
“I’m not. I’m here, Aiden.” She is. This isn’t a dream or a nightmare. She’s right here with me. Like she promised.
“You didn’t see me as a victim, Aiden. You told me you’ll destroy me the first time I stepped into RES.”
“That day, I saw the ghost of the red woman. And yes, Elsa. I was angry at you for not keeping your promise. I was even more pissed off that you didn’t remember me, so I wanted you to pay.” I grin. “Then I decided you’re mine.”
“We have a problem, Jonathan.”
“There hasn’t been a day where you weren’t fucking mine, Elsa. You’ve been mine since that first day you walked in here. ”
If we never find a way out of here I’ll die happy knowing I’m with the person I love the most. The boy I loved since I was seven.
“I’m glad I met you back then,” she says after a while. “You were my light in the darkness.”
If not treated properly, a simple fever can be lethal to someone with a heart condition. I know because I’ve been studying the shit out of it since I learnt of her illness.
“Have you seen them play chess?” He raises an eyebrow. “You should. It might change your mind.”
“We fucked up, Jonathan. Both of us. I’m brave enough to admit it.”
It all ends where it started.
“What I feel for you isn’t only love, obsession, or addiction. It’s all of those and more. Do you know what that means, sweetheart? It means I can’t live without you, so don’t you fucking dare leave me.”
I’m in love with his dark mind and twisted soul.
First, she engraved herself under my skin, then in my brain and then into my heart. She made a cosy place for herself in there. Now, that damn thing only beats for her.
