If you’re looking for a hero, Aiden is NOT it. If you, however, have been itching for a villain, then by all means, welcome to Aiden King’s world
The kingdom isn’t supposed to fall.
The truth screws you over before it sets you free. Masks drop. Secrets unravel.
Elsa’s race after the past blinds her from the present. I’ll fight for her. I’ll bring her back.
I’ll protect her even if it’s the last thing I do. We made a ...

We will always be together. You’re the reason I’m alive, Aiden.
My mother knows the day I’ll fall sick before I even wake up. She must be feeling my pain now. She must be crying.
I don’t like it when Mum cries, but I want her to find me.
It’s the only thing I’ve had since being separated from Xander and Cole. Are they hungry as well? Were they also hurt by the red woman?
With the light between us, a peaceful face comes into view. A white halo surrounds her, complete with her white cotton dress and bunny shoes. An angel.
She’s like the angel statue Mum has in our garden. She’s the same girl from the other time. I think it was yesterday.
The girl who looks exactly like one of Silver and Kimberly’s dolls. The girl with golden blonde hair and sparkly blue eyes watching me with a frown. The girl with milky white skin and flushed red cheeks.
“Are you real?” My voice sounds far away as if I’m speaking from another room.
Why is she crying? Did I do something wrong? Is it because I told her that she’s not real?
“I know you’re real.” My voice is less scratchy than before. “Don’t cry.”
“I’m sorry them monsters did this to you. They took Eli, but don't worry.” Her palm flattens on my cheek, determination shining in her sparkling blue ey...

The disaster part is, I didn’t see it coming — and I always see things coming.
The most catastrophic mistake any general can make is to feel comfortable and ignore the outside world.
Jonathan isn’t holding up better. His menacing gaze studies Ethan like he’s watching a demon rise from the ashes. Judging by the tightening of his jaw, he wasn’t expecting to see Ethan alive.
Now he’s back and he’ll take her away from me after I’ve finally found her.
“Are you engaged to Silver?” Elsa continues staring at her father, but her words are directed at me.
Ethan wraps an arm around his daughter’s shoulders. She snuggles to his side like a kitten.
“Looking forward to crushing you, Jonathan.”
“This is what happens when you fuck people over. You get fucked over in return.”
But unlike Jonathan, Ethan is affectionate towards Elsa. He wouldn’t erase himself from her life and make her believe he’s dead just for a game with Jonathan.
“Then we attack first.” He stands and buttons his jacket. “Call Levi. We have a war to plot.”
Please tell me he’s not going through memes right now.
When I was younger, I saw him from a different perspective than everyone else. To me, he wasn’t the merciless, heartless man everyone feared and cowered away from. He was Daddy. Just Daddy.
He was the type of father who wouldn’t just read me bedtime stories, but he’d also perform them for me. He tickled me until I broke into giggles. He took me on long runs in the rain. He saved me from the monsters in the lake.
Daddy never frowned when he looked at me. When he was having a bad day, it’d take a glance at me and a ...

Knox lifts a shoulder. “Just saying, Dad.” Dad?
My gaze snaps to Knox. Did he just call my dad his dad?
“Are you…” I clear my throat. “Are you my brother?”
“Foster brother, babe.” Oh. Okay.
“I’m hurt you don’t remember me.” Knox pouts like a child who’s been deprived of his favourite toy.
“Nah, not really. We raised ourselves,” Knox says.
“There’s another one.”
“Shut up for a second, Knox.” Dad sounds both exasperated and resigned. “Whatever.”
“I thought you were dead for the past ten years. Why did you show up now? Why not before? Why, Daddy? Why?”
“Do you think I would’ve left my princess alone if I had a choice?”
“I was shot, and I’ve been in a coma since. I only regained consciousness a year ago. If it were up to me, I would’ve found you the moment I woke, but I didn’t want you to see me in that state.”
“He had to go through physical therapy and mental therapy and a whole bunch of other therapies that drove me bonkers.”
“I kept an eye on you,” Dad says. “I just didn’t show myself.”
“The black Mercedes.”
“And Knox.” The latter waves two fingers my way. “Always at you...

“And your green-haired friend owes me for this.”
“That Xander bloke did this.” He leans in to whisper. “Your Aiden watched, by the way, then he drove off into the sunset as if he saw nothing.”
can I hug you?” The corners of his eyes soften, and without hesitation, he opens his arms. I dive straight in and bury my face in his chest. Dad’s arms wrap around me in a warm, soothing hug. The tears I fought since I saw him today stream down my cheeks.
“You’re… Y-you’re back.” “I promised you I would never leave you. I’m sorry I’m late, princess.”
