I was afraid of what might happen if I gave in to their call though. The shadows weren’t like the rest of my magic. They were an invading force, part of me and separate at the same time. Where I was sure my magic would never hurt me, I could only feel mistrust of the shadows. They weren’t mine. But they lived in me now all the same.
