Apparently our fire can burn right through bullshit.”
I’d begun to think the Elysian Mate thing was bullshit, but now I was looking at the evidence of its existence for myself. He’d met his one true love and had been gifted a life with them. My lips twitched at the thought of it, a small, hidden, romantic part of me secretly loving that idea.
But here’s a quick pop quiz first: are you two conspiring to give me a fucking heart attack?”
as his gaze stayed fixed on my thumping pulse, the darkness in it called to a primal part of me. He was a monster. And sometimes I was too.
“I didn’t realise that word was even in your vocabulary.” “Maybe you would have if you didn’t ignore me all the time,” he replied. “Well maybe I wouldn’t have to if you weren’t such a consistently repetitive ass.”
the honey will be all the sweeter once you’ve faced the hive to take it.
“I think the stars picked you for me, Blue. I think you’re my Elysian Mate.”
the Phoenix and Dragon tattoos which danced with each other on his back
In more than one of those photos I was all over Diego. Diego! Hell no. Even drunk Tory wouldn’t hook up with him. Especially after the things he’d said to me and my sister. Especially, especially while he was wearing that fucking soul hat. There wasn’t enough tequila in the world to make me forget his grandma was up in there whispering fuck knew what to him at any given moment.
“Good. Because I’m not a better man,” he said in a low growl, his eyes full of shadows. “I’m the devil and I want you. I want you like I’ve never wanted anything or anyone. And I will fight to make you mine, no matter what it takes. No force in Solaria will rip us apart.”
My back collided with the rock wall behind me, a faint hiss of pain shooting along my spine, as he came straight for me. I glared at him, raising my chin defiantly, daring him to do his worst as he reached out and snatched a handful of my hair into his grasp, tugging on it hard enough to tilt my head back. A gasp of pain parted my lips and his mouth collided with mine a moment later as my heart leapt at the unexpected turn of this argument.
He kissed me hungrily. Possessively. Claiming every piece of me for his own and a moan was dragged from me as my knees buckled and I was filled with the overwhelming urge to give in to exactly what he wanted from me. Let him take me, use me, own me, have every piece, and break them all apart just because he could.
He was still all the things I hated about him, but he was also my own personal brand of hell. And I’d been sinning for a long time, waiting for him to punish me.
If there was one way to make my day go from shit to walking on a goddamn rainbow, it was burning off an Heir’s eyebrows and living to tell the tale.
“The next time you want to drown in them, tell me about it.” “Why?” “Because if you’re going to drown then I’m going to drown with you.”
“Can I see your house?” I asked, glancing hopefully at the branches surrounding us. “Do you want to?” he asked, rolling onto his back with a frown. “It’s just a house.” “No…it’s a piece of you.” I reached over to trail my fingers across his jaw. “I’m collecting the set.”
My eyes fell on the petals on the floor and the answer was clear. He wanted my life to fall apart just like that flower had. And he wanted to be the one who did it. A pretty thing crushed in his fist. But I wasn’t fragile, I was a weapon forged in fire. And it looked like he’d realised that at long last.
“You get one shot to do right by her,” I warned, pointing at him. “And if you fuck it up, if you hurt her or break her heart, then I won’t just kick you in the balls. I’ll castrate you.” Orion shifted his hands before his junk protectively, clearing his throat as he glanced at Darcy. “Fucking hell, I think she actually would,” he muttered, like I was insane. Darcy offered me the brightest smile in the world as she answered him. “Yeah, she totally would.”
I longed to force my way past the Heirs, shove Catalina and her fake boobs onto her ass and take her place beside him.
“Alright who are you and where’s the Wolf asshole gone?” I raised a brow, and he snorted a laugh. He looked boyish and young in that moment, his hand sweeping back to fix a loose lock of hair into his bun. “He’s still here, babe. Just sleeping.” I lowered my voice as I answered. “Okay.” “Why are you whispering?” he frowned. “I don’t want to wake him up.”
Where were the douchebags who tormented us all around campus? Was this some kind of Christmas miracle or something? Had a little elf come and crawled up all of their asses to fill them with Christmas spirit this morning?
Seers can’t see Nymphs because they hide in the shadows. But then whoever could have predicted that they’d get into the palace?”
“Why are you wearing something that’s so hard to take off?” he demanded. “Because I don’t actually plan on hooking up with assholes all the time, it’s just something that keeps happening to me,”
his hands slid up my spine as I gave in and it didn’t just feel like lust anymore. It felt like the sky was falling in and the earth was splitting apart and the only two things left in the world were the two of us.
You don’t feel fire like that and just let it burn out.”
