IT was forced into the role of a mere supplier—a cost center.   Today, innovation comes from the entire organization, including the IT employees. Management finally realized that product developers are close to the market and their understanding of development is especially valuable. As before, certain decisions are still made centrally, but the process leading up to the decision making is no longer centrally managed.
