Relief is momentary; it’s checking out, numbing, sedating yourself.
“If you have raced with men on foot and they have worn you out, how can you compete with horses? If you stumble in safe country, how will you manage in the thickets by the Jordan?” (Jeremiah 12:5).
Belief is something we muster, set ourselves to, and practice.
Jesus, thank you for coming to rescue me with your own life, death, and resurrection. Forgive me for living such an independent life, so far from you. I open my heart and my life to you now. I ask you to come in and be my Lord, my Savior, my friend.
