Faraday came along and reversed Ørsted’s experiment. Instead of passing a wire with electric current over a magnet, he passed a magnet around a coil of wire. This generated an electrical current that grew bigger the faster he spun the magnet. Faraday’s reversal experiment gave way to modern hydroelectric and nuclear power plants, both of which use a magnetic turbine that generates electricity by turning a wire around.
