For everyone with a monstrous secret
Then he whispers in my ear, “Why do you make me do this to you, Sis? Why do you want to hurt?”
“All this time you’ve hated me…I just wanted you to be mine.”
“It won’t matter because tonight, you’re not you, and I’m not me. You’re Lucifer. I’m Lilith. We own hell. We can own our own hells, too.”
“I’m not just a lonely girl looking for a one-night stand, Lucifer.”
I’m not just going to kill him for my brother. I’m going to fuck up his life like he’d fucked up mine when he took away my choice.
I’ll take my time enjoying his death, like I hadn’t been able to enjoy mine.
I bind myself to you tonight, No matter the shift of the knife. Through blood and bone, Flesh and heart, Death may come, But we shall not part.
“That means you’re mine for tonight, Lilith, no matter what I do to you. And I don’t feel like playing nice. I want to fuck the feel of every man you’ve ever had out of you.”
“Do you want to take over the world with me?” he asks, his voice husky, his lips brushing my skin. I let out a little laugh. “I’d do anything with you.”
I open my mouth, and he strokes his thumb over my swollen lip. I still taste his blood, and mine.
“Say you’ll stay, and I’ll always be here. We’ll always be like this. You take my sins, I’ll take yours.”
“I’m afraid when I wake up, you’ll be gone.”
But when I close my eyes, it’s no one in the hotel I see. No one here I think about, even though I’m certain most everyone under this enormous roof wants me dead. No. It’s his midnight blue eyes that flash in my mind. Pale, smooth skin. A dimple in one cheek. A sharp jawline.
I glance up at the stars. It’s strange to know that Lucifer might be looking up at the same ones. Might be thinking of my death, too.
He might be wondering what it would feel like to snap my neck in his hands. Or he might be remembering what my blood tastes like. Like I’m remembering his.
I can’t stop fucking thinking about him. The taste of him. His hands on me. His voice in my ear. His scent. His blood. His lies.
I want Lucifer to know a monster is coming after him.
Lucifer might have ruled hell, but Lilith made it burn. And tonight, he’s going to find out just what that means.
“You were my flinch,” I tell him, and I mean it. “When you slipped your hand in mine…” I smile, raking a hand through my short hair. “You were my flinch.”
“These are monstrous ties,”
“Keep it quiet, Angel,” he whispers against my neck.
In all my misery, in all this disgust I feel with my own body, I feel it. When he touches me, I light up. I want to melt into him. I want to burn with him. We can burn the whole world if we want. We can burn up hell if we have to. We can destroy everything we touch, and we can do it together, without burning each other.
Lilith and Lucifer are only good at burning things down, not building them anew.
