Saying it out loud, having others to hold her accountable—it was the kind of motivation she needed to finally see her dream through.
She took a moment to regain her composure, then reached over and cupped his jaw, bearing the familiar burden of having to offer comfort when she was the one who wanted to be comforted right now.
Relief overwhelmed her; having her feelings validated brought unexpected solace to her battered soul.
“That night, he told me to make sure I controlled every part of my life, because when you’re not in control awful things can happen and you can’t do anything about it. That’s why I need to control as much as possible.”
