“No more than you—or I—can forget what Richie was. But …” I resume walking, this time slower, lighter in my steps, ponderous. “I think we’re so quick to demonize people who hurt us, and never let them move on. We put the weight of our enemies’ pasts on top of them, and we make it so heavy, they have no chance of standing again. Where’s our role in the betterment of humanity if we can’t also learn to stop blaming them, to encourage their better parts, and to leave the world a cleaner place than we found it?”
Can People change? Can you forgive and let go? Forgiveness is never for the person who did you wrong, it’s for you! An opportunity to be free from the burdens of anger, bitterness and hate. It’s easier said then done, but it’s necessary for us to keep our peace, and blessings. What if you were the offender? It won’t change what they did .. but wouldn’t we want someone to look past a mistake we made? Not to excuse what we did, but allow us to show that mistake does not define us.. that we can be good, may not deserve that chance, but if you get that chance .. make it count, do what you’re suppose to do. Look at what God does for us.. “Grace is when you get what you don’t deserve, mercy is when you don’t get what you deserve”
