Obviously, I know from experience that burnout is absolutely terrible, and healthcare professions such as physical therapy, nursing, and medicine have some of the highest rates. Burnout is a form of work-related stress that can take its toll on our mental and physical health just like any other form of stress. What makes burnout a bit more challenging is that most people really need their jobs, so they can’t simply remove that source of stress. They feel trapped.
