just try to live every day as if I’ve deliberately come back to this one day, to enjoy it as if it was the full, final day of my extraordinary, ordinary life.”1
dwelling on what we didn’t get helps no one, and we’re happiest when we can celebrate others’ successes.
You may think you need something to make your life complete, but God says, “Just wait on Me. I have something better planned for you.” It won’t always come quickly, but God promises to show up if you will trust in Him.
Every one of us is created in the image of God, marked with a purpose, designed with a plan, with gifts and talents that no one else has. We are each known intimately and loved immeasurably by the Creator of the universe.
James 1:17 tells us, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”
The things of this life change, so I want to remind you or lead you to remain in God—He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
You’re no longer wandering exiles. This kingdom of faith is now your home country. You’re no longer strangers or outsiders. You belong here, with as much right to the name Christian as anyone. God is building a home. He’s using us all—irrespective of how we got here—in what he is building. He used the apostles and prophets for the foundation. Now he’s using you, fitting you in brick by brick, stone by stone, with Christ Jesus as the cornerstone that holds all the parts together.
Live with purposeful direction and say no to cheap copies or temporary fixes.
“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him” (NLT).
Turn in His direction.
If you let what you believe about yourself—and what other people believe about you—define your life, that would be a tragedy. You’ll never find out what you’re capable of. But your life can change the world when you start believing good things for yourself.
you are not worthless, but the lies and the adjectives you are believing about yourself are worth less than the identity of royalty God has on your life as a son or a daughter of the King.
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. (Isaiah 40:29) The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. (Deuteronomy 31:8) The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing. (Psalm 34:10) “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (John 10:10)
John 3:16 says, “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life” (NLT). Face your lions with this kind of faith, with the knowledge that they have no power over the One who gives eternal life.
If you believe you belong in God’s family, then you can become all He created you to be.
God will provide what you need in every season, and He will match the pure desires of your heart. Be open minded. What you think you need may not be best for where He is taking you. What He will give will be what sets you apart for the purpose He has been waiting to reveal in you.
