America was built from the ground up to function as a pluralistic republic. It can flourish only as a pluralistic republic.

America can exist only as a liberal, pluralistic republic.

Democrats haven’t won the states of Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Wyoming, Idaho, and Utah since 1964.

This speaks to the idea that the Electoral College is designed to get someone who has broad approval.

The NFL is different. It’s arguably the last major American sport that truly reaches across all political lines and depends on its universal appeal for its ratings and financial dominance.

It was consumed with an unreasonable fear of violence and a belief that white northern radicals actively wanted to harm the people of the South.

In fact, some of slavery’s most famous opponents were vicious, murderous men, and their actions put fear in the hearts of southerners from Virginia to Texas.
