Simple and intuitive, Darwinian evolution almost seems self-evident. Yet however compelling its explanatory framework, were Darwinian evolution not supported by data it would have failed to achieve scientific consensus. Logic is not enough. Confidence in Darwinian evolution rests on the overwhelming support it has received from scientists who have traced gradual changes in the structure of organisms and delineated the adaptive advantages many of the changes conferred.
