A bunch of the people they were targeting were those who typically didn’t vote Republican or didn’t vote at all. They were trying to expand the electorate through this while at the same time they were committed to voter suppression. In particular, they focused on disengaging African Americans and other minority communities. One of the ways they did this was to peddle left-wing social justice rhetoric to depict Hillary Clinton as a propagator of white supremacy—while themselves working for a white supremacist.
