fantasy was my favorite type of book where bad equaled sexy-as-hell men who I wanted more than the nice guy.

“What is that sound?” Pen lifted his head off Scrooge’s shoulder, tilting his head. Hare’s ears twisted around, frowning. “I don’t hear anything. Probably the voices speaking to you again.” “You don’t hear it?” He tipped his head the opposite way. “Pen, you have the worst hearing out of all of us.” Hare sneered. “You’re almost deaf. I’m the one who can hear a mouse stir from miles away.” “I hear… growling sounds.”
Ugliness seemed to grow like weeds, strangling out empathy and kindness. If it didn’t affect them, they didn’t care.
“Lie is such a restricting term. I’d rather think of it as being optimistically ahead of the truth.”
