By December, this work had borne fruit and we announced a $4 million Microsoft commitment to support the Hutch’s project. Formally called the Cascadia Data Discovery Initiative, the work is designed to help identify and facilitate the sharing of data in privacy-protected ways among the Hutch, the University of Washington, and the University of British Columbia and the BC Cancer Agency, both based in Vancouver.
