I have been in school continuously for over forty years.1 First preschool, kindergarten, elementary, junior high, and high school. Then a four-year bachelor’s degree at UC Berkeley, followed by a four-year Ph.D. at Princeton. The next step was what you could call my first “real job”—as a professor of economics at George Mason University. Twenty years later, I’m still here. In the fall, I’ll be starting forty-first grade.
