I love this because tables feel like a great equalizer. We all sit side by side at the same height, eating the same food, passing the butter, and knocking over the salt.
We didn’t learn better behavior, just better tactics.
People need love and acceptance a lot more than they need advice.
GIVE AWAY LOVE LIKE YOU’RE MADE OF IT.
No, He sat, He listened, and He saw. He went straight to the heart of the matter and saw her heart in the process. Now, that’s great theology.
It’s possible to have great doctrine and lousy theology. Loving people the way Jesus did is great theology.
When people interact with difficult, judgmental people who say they follow Jesus, it’s hard to imagine how the God they say they’re speaking for is gracious and kind.
Remember that you are God’s kid, but you’re also a tangible expression of Jesus to the world. Don’t tell people what Jesus meant; love them the way He did.
The return on investment with love is love itself.
We want to include everyone, but we want to include them on our terms. We tell people to come as they are, but we insist they change before they arrive. If this is you, I’ve got two words for you to take to heart: stop it.
We’re meeting people at the starting line, not the finish line. Let them know they’re not just invited; they’re welcome.
It’s one of the qualities of relationships that makes love so sweet. The people who love us weren’t forced to—they chose us because they wanted us.
