The situation that Dalits live under is akin to an open prison. They are heavily policed since childhood and their actions are disciplined by caste codes. They face trauma, abuse and exploitation at the hands of the beneficiaries of the caste system. Since childhood, every insult and heckling abuse that comes their way from rabid landlords, teachers, neighbours, coaches, tutors and advisers adds to the creation of a psychological condition.
