One of the tactics pioneered by the Posse in the 1970s and used quite frequently in Colorado Springs to terrorize law enforcement and other government officials was the use of false liens filed against property and other forms of paper terrorism. These liens would tie the victims up in court for extended periods of time and force them to spend money and other resources on attorney fees to defend what was legally theirs. I personally knew of some officers who attempted to sell their houses only to find out at a certain point in the process that they could not do so because of a Posse lien
