Ask for permission before sharing their good news with others. I have a lot of thoughts on sharing people’s bad news without their permission (more on that later!) but I think it’s equally important to check that you’re cleared to share good news about them. (Because maybe they want to be the one to communicate the news of their job offer or engagement to your friend group!) In general, it’s wise to think of people’s stories as theirs, not yours.
