In the larger European Union, renewable energy sources have since the turn of the century increased from 6 to 14 percent in 2018. But there’s a catch. Most of this renewable energy does not come from solar and wind. In total, solar and wind make up 2.7 percent of all energy, whereas biomass makes up more than 10 percent.
