It is the church’s responsibility as a whole to engage in biblical interpretation. Despite people believing they have a right to do this and that, individuals do not interpret scripture for themselves. The Reformation doctrine of sola scriptura, combined with the powers and principalities’ ability to affect translation and the Western secular frame, and our insistent deferral to the common person’s common sense is challenged by God’s narrative as understood by the church.
