Sara Konrath, the University of Michigan researcher who released the 2010 headline-grabbing analysis about declining empathy among college students, has created her own empathy-teaching app for kids, called Random App of Kindness. Konrath, whose previous research suggested a connection between smartphones and empathy decline, has said she still believes phones can present an opportunity to teach social skills.
