I heard the door slam open, and I knew that scent anywhere. I hissed low, just for him to hear. He was the only shifter in this class. Most avoided world history because I taught it, but not Ranger Lovell. He took this class because of me. I turned to him, saw his big playful grin spread from ear to ear, and I rolled my eyes. He made me laugh and infuriated me at the same time, but he was forever smiling and joking. “No need to get grumpy with me, Galen. You know you love me.” I wanted to smack him upside his head. He liked to push my buttons and in a teasing way, which was even more maddening. “Take a seat at the back.” I pointed to two spare seats back there, but Ranger had already spotted Alexis…and she had noticed him, too. When he walked over to her in what was known as the ‘Ranger swagger,’ she rolled her eyes at him and looked away. I wanted to laugh, as it was funny that he didn’t affect her. The female students were usually falling all over themselves to be noticed by Ranger. He sat beside her and leaned over. “Hey, pretty girl.” His voice had a seductive tone about it, but she didn’t look at him, and I could see the confusion on Ranger’s face from the corner of my eye. Damn. I chuckled to myself. I think I could really like this girl. “I saw my twin brother notice you at lunch today… You must be special because no girl has ever turned his head before. I was starting to think he was gay or something.” That had her expression changing, and not in the way Ranger had...
