By 2016, Black people had found new ways to say “I am angry about every measure of American violence” without speaking the words themselves out loud. It became abundantly clear that the people in America perpetrating violences were aware of what was happening and aware of their role in it, and so the very presence of Black people noticing and understanding was enough to make these people uneasy.
