“Shit!” Ransom said from somewhere behind me. I pushed myself up on one arm, looked over the back of the couch. “What are you doing?” “You’re awake!” “No, I’m not. You’re hallucinating.” I laid back down.
The thing that was me had a head shaped like a lion but on the body of a horse. Wings that reminded me of the bald eagle sprang from my back. The scaled tail of a dragon. My front feet were lion paws, and the back two were horse hooves.
The woman was a goddess. No question. A snore interrupted my memories. I laughed mentally. Well, as goddess-like as a human can get, anyways.
“I’ll let you order me around next time, Saint. I promise,” I called over my shoulder. Gasps and inhales filtered from the screen. Shit, what had I just gotten myself into? “Um, I don’t…I didn’t…” How does one apologize for saying what she wants, but saying it at the wrong time? “I understand, honey. Just be careful,” Saint said, bailing me out of my own idiocy.
“The Order of the Iron Serpent. You were right on the last two, Ki-Ki.” “So technically, it should be TOOTIS,” I said with a straight face.
“Touch Hellion. He has no magic, no known ailments. He’s in the peak of mental and physical health. He requires no healing. Would you be willing to touch him?” “I’m pretty sure psychopathy is not the peak of mental health.” “He is satisfied with his mental state. That should be enough.” I looked at the man. He nodded.
