“We have yet to observe a species that are quite as schizophrenic as homo sapiens,” Hawking said. “No other species acts against its own interests to quite the same extent or is so willing to allow individual members to lead them to destruction. Occasionally, you seem to be evolving; you work together toward some common goal such as building a space station or some other research project. And then you do something completely illogical and kill millions of your own kind for no real reason.”
