“Cly?” said Acubens, stepping toward me. “I’m not Cly,” I said. Arcturus’s pale eyes scoured across me. “No, you aren’t, I see that now. Explain.”
space. “You bitch!” Cly shrieked the moment she saw me. “What kind of mongrel does that to her own sister!” I actually laughed. “You’ve never treated me like your sister in your life.”
I hadn’t expected him to join me at the dance, and he hadn’t. I reminded myself it was for the best. Getting too close to him felt like a gamble with my soul on the line, and I didn’t like my odds.
