One positive was that I had always been more comfortable talking to a large group of people than I was in a one-to-one situation. In fact, the larger the group the easier I found it. This was quite at odds with my preference to socialise in smaller groups, but when it came to ‘performing’, the lack of intimacy in a larger group was, for me, preferable.
