It is not necessary for them to attack towns at all, but… to maintain the flow of the army’s advance, to prevent fronts from becoming stable by massed drives through identified weakly held positions. This was a deadly accurate forecast of how the war in the West would be fought, and when one reads it one wonders why no one on the Allied side had similar insights.
