When the trucks with service crews rolled out of the gates to make repairs, Immelt was often riding along. Soon enough, the young hotshot executive on loan from Plastics was on his hands and knees in customers’ kitchens, alongside the repair techs, helping to fix the flawed design, one balky fridge at a time.
