Teaching taught me how difficult it can be to remain calm in the face of chaos, to focus on twenty energetic children at the same time without boring those who are bounding ahead or confusing those who are trailing behind on a particular lesson. I know that setting your own feelings aside in order to serve the children in your care can require great reserves of strength. When I see a teacher
doing all of those things while making it look easy and fun, I take notice.

In this day and age, it seems as though people write one-hundred-and-fifty-word credos and then live by them until they die. No one ever seems to say, ‘Maybe I don’t know what I’m talking about,’ or ‘Teach me more.’ I love that she was not like that. She wanted to learn. I hope I’m like her.”
I have seen the burden God has laid on the human race. He has made everything beautiful in its time.
