What was a girl to do besides give in and embrace it?
“I’m surprised you recognized another human being through your own self-pity.”
“A portion size for you is not the same as a portion size for me, baby girl.”
“Can you forgive me for having my head up my ass?”
“And you, little sis? What’s your big dream?” Moment of truth. “I like being a clown.”
Someday you’ll realize it was all a waste of time.

Truthfully, she was grateful for the escape. Life was not making sense right now.
“The quiet got too loud once you’d come and gone.” Another long kiss that left her gasping. “How dare you.”

Ten years of nursing an all-consuming crush she’d assumed was love, when she’d had no idea that this was what love felt like. This. This was it. So heavy at times it couldn’t be lifted, so light at others it made you capable of floating.
