“You smell so good in the rain,” he explained. “In a good way, or in a bad way?” I asked cautiously. He sighed. “Both, always both.”
“There’s another option,” Alice said quietly. Edward turned on her in fury, his voice a blistering snarl. “There—is—no—other—option!”
“How can you kill a vampire?” He glanced at me with unreadable eyes and his voice was suddenly harsh. “The only way to be sure is to tear him to shreds, and then burn the pieces.”

“Alice already saw it, didn’t she?” I guessed. “That’s why the things she says upset you. She knows I’m going to be like you… someday.”
“To be perfectly honest, she’ll be unavailable every night, as far as anyone besides myself is concerned. No offense. And I’m sorry about your evening.” He didn’t sound sorry at all. And then he snapped the phone shut, a huge smirk on his face.
“Twilight, again,” he murmured. “Another ending. No matter how perfect the day is, it always has to end.”
“So ready for this to be the end,” he murmured, almost to himself, “for this to be the twilight of your life, though your life has barely started. You’re ready to give up everything.” “It’s not the end, it’s the beginning,” I disagreed under my breath.
