I have a best friend.
"I like her color. She's yellow. Pretty yellow. Like flowers. She's like a flower, Blake."
Audrey surprised me by wrapping her hand around my arm as much as it would go.
"Well, for what it's worth, I think we would make beautiful kids."
“And what is it you think I am to you?” I asked instead, surprised to find my voice so hushed, I could barely hear it myself. And without hesitation, she answered, “You’re the man I’m meant to love.”
“And yet, it never feels like enough,” she replied sweetly, before kissing my cheek.
Audrey was smart. It was one of the things I loved about her, and I knew that at the mention of the location, she’d put it all together. And she did, making it clear with a quick turn of her head to stare at me with a wide, teary-eyed stare.
“I love you so much, I forget to breathe sometimes.”
“Blue for you, Blake. Blue for you. Because you’re better. All better now. Right?”
