I won’t let you go. I promised I’d do anything in my power to keep us together and I’ll do it, goddammit. I will do it.
Seth Capella had saved Orion’s life. He’d done all he could, come to my aid when I needed help. And that was confronting in so many ways, I couldn’t handle it right now.
I was here. And I wasn’t going anywhere, even if every star in the sky decided to fall down and burn the world tonight.
I guessed the pity would just fade, but it would never truly leave. Poor Darius Acrux, he hungered for power so much that it destroyed the only good thing he was ever offered.
Because if Clara or any of Darius’s nightmare family showed up again, I was going to be ready to make sure they never hurt anyone I loved ever again.
“I don’t care if Tory Vega is starting her own bakery back there and using Polaris as a rolling pin, I’m talking to you, Corbin,” Orion snapped
“Lance is off limits,” I snarled. “Which means the girl he loves is off limits too.”
“He had a life before this. He had things he wanted, things he’d earned. He should be living his fucking dreams out playing in the Solarian Pitball League right now. Not stuck here teaching. His mother is a fucking psychopath, his sister disappeared years ago, and he hasn’t been able to make a single decision for his own happiness since the moment my father linked him to me. But somehow, in among all of that shit, he found a girl to love. But you, selfish motherfucker that you are, want to rip that away from him too?”
“About…fuck, Darius, about everything.”
I was acting kinda like a little bitch.
“No, Darius. Fuck you! Fuck all the bullshit you spouted to me over the years about fighting back against your father, about working to change his legacy and being a better man than him. Fuck the lies you told about using your time to rule with the other Heirs to make Solaria a greater kingdom, and fuck you for being too much of a coward to just tell Tory Vega how you felt about her before it was too damn late!”
Maybe her Lady Petunia was a magic vag, designed to lure Siren dick in and then never release it from her spell.
“You’re sweet like honey with the way you chase around after me and you taste great at first. But no one wants to drown in honey - it’s far too sticky and a jolly old bastard of a beast to wash off.”
“What’s the matter, Darius? Afraid I’ll kick your ass and make you look like a little bitch in front of everyone?”
“I’m okay with you being my weakness, Blue. Because that means my weakness is a badass, hot as fuck Phoenix with enough fire in her veins to rival the sun. So come at me stars, I’m invincible!”
A dark smile tugged at his mouth. “I’m not telling you to stay because firstly, you’re a fucking force to be reckoned with, beautiful. And secondly…” He stepped closer, taking my hand and firmly kissing the back of it. “We make a fucking excellent team; I’d be doing us a disservice to leave you behind.”
“Call her Darcy, dipshit, or I’ll start calling you Demelza,” he growled, and Darius shrugged. “Come on let’s move.”
A fallen star, an empty grave, an eternal vow. Seek he who broke it.
“You two are…well, fuck the law for saying you can’t be together,” Darius said, folding his arms. My heart squeezed at his words, and I saw so much pain in his eyes that I strode forward and wrapped my arms around him.
