“It’s not on you, either,” he replied roughly. “The fucking stars…a Vega. Shit, who could have come up with something so fucked up? It’s like they wanted this to happen to him. I’m starting to think he’s fucking cursed. He’s had to deal with so much shit in his life and then he’s finally offered something good and pure and light and it has to be with the one person he could never offer the world to.”
I eyed the muscles beginning to show beneath my flesh, running my thumb across my chest and inspecting the ways I’d changed. It wasn’t just the weights that had affected my body either. This past year, I’d grown taller, my shoulders broadening, my features losing their boyish softness.
“In the throne room, when you were with him there, he told you, as clearly as I’m telling you now that he wanted you, he said he wanted to claim you as his own, he said he wanted everything from you, that you-”
For real, how can she say all he ever did was try to destroy her when he told her at least 2-3 times how he felt, kind of
and I know how much you both care-” “Enough!” I shouted as the tears finally broke past my defences and spilled down my cheeks. “That’s enough. I don’t care whose fault it was or how many chances we had not to end up here. We are here. That’s the end of it. So fuck fate. Fuck the stars. Fuck destiny. Fuck Darius Acrux. And fuck you.”
“I’ve always known who you were, Roxy. The only difference is that you’ve realised it now too.
“You have to admit it looks good on me, though.” Darius gave my entire body a lingering look that dragged up from my feet to the crown on my head and my flesh scorched everywhere his eyes landed. “It looks even better on me,” he countered, raising his own hand and fashioning a beautiful crown of ice which sparkled in the morning sun as he placed it on top of his black hair.
“Yeah. She sounded like a pig with a carrot stuck up its ass. I didn’t even finish.” A laugh tumbled from my lips before I could stop it and suddenly all of the other Heirs, Geraldine, Darcy, Orion and well everyone actually, were swivelling in their chairs and staring at us. “Liar,” I hissed. “Am I?” There was a smirk playing around his lips which drew my attention to his mouth

but I only had eyes for Marguerite as I moved between two of the other girls and we formed a line with all of our hips locked together, winking at her as we ground our hips in a way that may have been bordering on pornographic. But if she was going to go around calling me a whore all the time, I didn’t want to disappoint.
“Away away away!” Tory and I joined in between our laughter as Justin Masters produced a flute from his bag and started piping out the tune. Oh my god this is actually happening. Geraldine reached out to us and I shrugged at Tory before climbing up to join her on the table. She started the dance again and I copied her, picking it up as Tory joined her other side, laughing as Geraldine continued the song.

“He’s never going to let you out of here is he?” I asked. “He’s never going to let the world know what you are or who you are. Is he?”

“Because I’m going to set you free. Come here.” I beckoned and he got up, walking towards me cautiously as I pulled my Atlas from my pocket and set it recording. “This is Xavier Acrux and he’s got something fucking amazing to show you,”

He was only wearing sweatpants and I got the impression he’d flown here to ambush me the moment I returned. I guess he didn’t like my FaeBook post.

I had to wonder if I’d made a terrible mistake when I said no.
They’re so perfect for eachother, she had the power he needed, he has the power to pull her back from the shadows, this is soo sad

“She left a note,” Darius growled, pulling a folded piece of paper from his pocket and tossing it on the table so that we could read it.

He slapped the ticket into my palm. “I bought over three hundred thousand lottery tickets,” he said with a simple shrug like it meant nothing. “In fact, I’ve been buying that many every year since you lamented on your sixteenth birthday that you’ll never get to stick your dick in a moon crater. Figured it had to pay off eventually.”

“I don’t want you to hate me,” I forced out, my shoulders tensing, stealing a glance at her. She looked suspicious of course. “So…that’s what I wanted to say,” I finished weakly. Fuck, that was the worst apology ever.

“I have a theory that with the bangles hiding both of your magic and me thrown into the mix while we hide down here, the stars won’t be able to figure out what we’re doing.”
