“He’s not fucking dead until I say he is!”
I’m starting to think he’s fucking cursed.
“Don’t ever let go of her, Lance. You fucking fight for her until your last breath, you hear me?”
“I can see why Darcy loves you,” I said eventually and Orion’s eyebrows rose in surprise. “Are we the sappy declarations kind of friends now?” he asked in a tone that suggested he found the idea of that about as horrifying as I did. “Well, you’re still an asshole, but you’re a good man too.”
“Do not eat in my classroom!” Orion barked, his harsh tone sending an injection of adrenaline into my veins. Tyler gaped at him, swivelling in his seat to point at Tory who was still munching on her pastry. “But Tory Vega’s eating!” he complained. “I don’t care if Tory Vega is starting her own bakery back there and using Polaris as a rolling pin, I’m talking to you, Corbin,” Orion snapped and I suppressed a laugh,
“Put Polaris to shame, Blue,” he encouraged and I held my fingers above my coin. “He has a point, sir, you’re pretty distracting standing there like the Grim Reaper,” I said lightly.
“The Heirs are given more advanced tasks in my classes. If you two ever want to challenge yourselves, you only have to ask.”
“If you try to fuck me over, kid, I’ll break every bone in your body. And if you try to fuck over the Vegas, I’ll rip out said broken bones one by one, put them in a blender and feed them to you through a straw. I know some nasty fucking spells that will make sure you stay alive through the entire thing. Mark. My. Words.”
“No Order gifts,” Orion said casually as he wandered past. “We don’t need a deep fried Heir on our hands.”
“Yeah, total plot twist; he saved little red riding hood when he found her bleeding out instead of eating her.” “You’re more like big bearded riding hood,” I pointed out and he barked a laugh.
“You two are…well, fuck the law for saying you can’t be together,”
“Fuck the stars too, Darius,” I breathed and his muscles tightened around me as he held me close. “Fuck every shining, gleaming one of them.”
“He was falling in love with you and you ripped his heart out,” Gabriel said quietly. “There is no greater pain in this world than that. Believe me. I know. I’ve lived it.”
Darius Acrux: @Margurite Helebor, I wouldn’t fuck you again if you were the last Fae in Solaria and my dick would fall off if I didn’t. Don’t talk shit about my Mate. One more word and I’ll destroy you #trymebitch
“I’ve always known who you were, Roxy. The only difference is that you’ve realised it now too. You’re a Princess, one of the two most powerful Fae in the whole of Solaria. You were always going to challenge me eventually. Just don’t start thinking I’ll roll over for you because you’ve decided you like the idea of wearing a crown.” My lips twitched at the challenge in his tone and I raised a hand, spinning earth magic to my command until I’d constructed a crown out of twisting green vines with little red roses dotted all over it. I placed it on my head and smirked at him tauntingly,
“Ice melts,” I pointed out. “Flowers wither,” he countered. “I guess we’re both screwed then.” “I was already aware of that.”
“Roxy said no to me,” he said in a low voice which cut Marguerite short. “Not the other way around. And I’m pretty sure I told you not to talk shit about her once already.”
“Yeah. She sounded like a pig with a carrot stuck up its ass. I didn’t even finish.” A laugh tumbled from my lips before I could stop it and suddenly all of the other Heirs, Geraldine, Darcy, Orion and well everyone actually, were swivelling in their chairs and staring at us.
“I’ll talk to you exactly however I fancy, Mildreadful!” Geraldine cried
“The stars might have decided that you can never be mine,” Darius said roughly, refusing to move away from me. “But I am yours. No matter what. I don’t care where we end up or who we’re with, I’ll always be yours. And I’m going to fix the damage I did to us even if the stars don’t care. I’m going to prove to you that I could have been worthy of you if I’d just listened to my heart sooner.”
“Cheerleaders sometimes support a certain player on the field,” Darius said as he pushed his hand into his pocket and took out a navy ribbon with the word Fireshield on it. “Will you cheer for me today, Roxy?”
“I think you dropped this, carina,” a deep voice came from above us and I looked up to find Lionel’s pet Storm Dragon, Dante Oscura,
“Anything for you, you beautiful Dargon. Dargron. I mean, Draron,” I slurred. “Dammit, how hard is it to say Dragarn? Dargon! Oh fuck my life.”
Yep, it’s official. I’m into my straight best friend. Thanks for the headfuck stars.
“Look, sometimes we want to see the good in people we care about so much that we pretend it’s there, living under all the layers of cruelty. But the fact is, Diego, some people are toxic. And if you keep them in your life, they’ll poison everything good in your world until you end up being just like them. And that’s a far worse fate than going against the grain and making your own path. Even if that means you’re alone.”
“He might be a fucking bastard and a ruthless asshole, he might have done all of those horrible things to you and maybe he even deserved a life spent pining for you. But you can’t say he never tried to show you how he felt. You just refused to hear it. And you refused to see it. Because you’re too fucking stubborn for your own good. Even when you wanted him you refused to admit it to yourself, you just hid behind hate and sex and came up with every excuse under the sun to deny your own heart.”
“I love you, Roxy,”
“And I know it doesn’t change anything. That it can’t change anything,” he growled. “But I’m going to prove it to you. I’m going to do everything I can to make it up to you, for the rest of my life if that’s what it takes. I’ll never forgive myself for bringing this curse on us. And I’m never going to stop loving you either.”
“Did you just slap a fucking Dragon?” Caleb asked,
“Because that’s what love is,” I said in a low voice, running my finger over a bare patch of skin on my right forearm thoughtfully. “It’s giving everything without expecting anything in return. It’s sacrificing your heart and happiness for someone else and it’s owning all of your mistakes and trying to make them right. Not because you expect to get something in return for it. But because the person you love needs to know how you feel.”
“I’d take death over life without you,” he breathed, his voice rough and broken by fear.
P.S. Glad to see you back. Don’t break alone. I know you have your sister, but I’m always here if you need to talk about him.
I ignored the stares, hunting for Kylie and spotting her with Jillian, Marguerite, Mildred and a bunch of their mindless Hores. I made a beeline towards her as adrenaline rolled smoothly into my limbs alongside a wave of magic. Tory moved to walk beside me, wordless as she realised where I was headed and suddenly Darius, Caleb and Max materialised too like they were drawn magnetically to Seth’s side.
“I am an Heir to the Solarian throne. You haven’t got enough power in your veins to fuel a bus.
“Kylie Major is no longer visible to anyone who supports me and my sister!”
“That goes for anyone who supports the Heirs too,” Seth suddenly boomed
“Nobody fucks with my girl and gets away with it,” he growled, his lips brushing my ear for a moment and making me shiver.
“Is everyone ready to begin?” Mother Dickens asked mildly, looking around with a smile, her gaze skipping over Kylie like she wasn’t even there.
“Why are you grinning like someone just offered to suck your cock?” Seth asked me and my head snapped up as I tried to school my features. “I don’t grin,” I replied, rolling my eyes at him. “I occasionally smirk. That’s about it.” “Well, what are you occasionally smirking about?” Cal asked,
“There you are you lickable lobster,”
“What did you get for him?” Seth called and I growled at him irritably. “Can’t you just be the kind of chaperones who just shut the fuck up and look at the wall or something?” I snapped. “No chance,” Max called back. “Don’t be a bothersome barracuda,” Geraldine chastised
“Why would you want to spend forever with me after what I did to you?” she asked, and I frowned at her as I tried to understand how she could doubt that. “You were offered true love by the stars and opened your heart up to it willingly, only to have me crush it in my fist. So why would you want a second shot at this at all?” “Because in my heart I know I deserved the answer you gave me,” I replied honestly. “I wasn’t worthy of your love then and I’m still not worthy of it now. But if you gave me forever then I’d spend every second of it trying to be.”
